Policies and Procedures for Consigning Apparel Virginia Beach, VA
Consigning Apparel Virginia Beach, VA

• Clothing and Accessories including better label apparel from casual to formalwear – sizes 0-3X, belts, scarves, hats, shoes and select designer handbags will be accepted Monday through Friday from 11-5 by appointment only. Best selling labels include St. John, Escada, Dana Buchman, Eileen Fisher, Ellen Tracy, Tahari, Misook, Classiques Entier, Flax, DKNY and others. Our younger clientele loves Banana Republic, JCrew, Benetton, Abercrombie, BCBG, bebe and more.

• Handbags accepted include Coach, Fendi, Dooney & Bourke, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Kate Spade and other “like” designers. Only the real ones, please! We will not consign copies.

• Shoes are a tricky business. If possible, we are even more particular about shoes. They truly must be “like new” and best sellers are Stuart Weitzman, Ferragamo, Fendi, Taryn Rose, and other trendy boutique labels.

• 40/60 split between consignor and worththewait, with 40% going to the consignor.

• All articles are consigned for 60 days. After 30 days items are reduced by 10%, after 45 days 15% and after 60 days 25%.

• After 60 days unsold items will be donated to charity and consignor will receive the tax credit for those items if requested by consignor. Charities that we donate items to on a monthly basis include Judeo Christian Outreach Center, Samaritan House, New Hope Church, Open Door Chapel and Suited For Success.

• Items must be in perfect “like new” condition. We are extremely particular at worththewait in regard to the caliber of items we accept. In addition to better labels, clothes must be cleaned, pressed, on hangers and fragrance free. Check for tears; soiled collars, cuffs, labels and underarms; missing or loose buttons; moth holes and general overall appearance. Please do not just empty your closet into our store. It takes time to go through each person’s clothes carefully and our appointments are scheduled in order to give each consignor the time we both need. We are not a thrift store – we are an upscale consignment boutique designed to offer our consignors the best possible results when it comes to selling their items.

Pricing
Prices are established by us. It is our goal to make as much money as possible – both for the consignor and for us. We have an extremely high overhead. We want your items to sell. We price your items approximately 75% lower than full price retail. This is a general rule in the consignment industry. If after receiving the itemized printout of your consignments, you are concerned about the pricing of any item – just call us – we will be happy to work with you. We do not always “hit the mark” with every item.

Pay-out
It is the sole responsibility of the consignor to keep up with their contract due date. We will be happy to send you a check and a tax donation for your unsold items at the end of your contract period if you call us and make that request. At any time during your contract period you are welcome to call and check on your account. If there is money on the books for you, you can stop by the store pick up a check at any time. Your money can be used as a credit for store purchase at anytime as well. We will keep the money due you on our books for 4 months after your contract has expired. After that time, my computer program purges your account information and you will forfeit any money owed to you. This gives the consignor a full six months from the time they bring in their items for consignment.

No Thanks
Sorry, we do not accept the following: vintage clothing, lingerie, loungewear, aerobic wear, bridal gowns or accessories, costumes, estate clothing or jewelry.

Seasons
Spring & Summer items are accepted January through June. Fall & Winter items are accepted August through January. Fur Coats, jackets and stoles are accepted September through January – this is the best window of opportunity to sell them.

Layaway
Clothing may be put on layaway for a period up to 30days. A minimum deposit of $10 or 30% of total layaway (whichever is greater) must be paid at time of layaway. If items are not picked up within that 30 day period the deposit is forfeited and items are returned to the floor. In fairness to the consignor, an additional 30 days will then be added to the consignor’s contract period. A layaway is considered a final purchase – therefore there are no exchanges or refunds on any layaway purchase.
